The doctor ordered an MRI, and results should be in today.
Taylor’s mental status has been a little different as well, but that could be explained by persistent fever. I think we can all say we get a bit “loopy” after three weeks of fever.
Although he is still without vision, over the past four weeks or so he has been seeing things – vividly – that are not there. Mostly people, or obstacles he avoids abruptly while walking, but his eyes are busily investigating things that are curious to him, and not making sense.
I have no idea if this is the brain’s visual cortex behaving, or misbehaving, or if it is related to the fever or something going on in the brain, but either way – if you could take a moment today and say a special prayer for him, please…
He has another appointment with his neurologist regarding what his brain is seeing – and perhaps she will refer him to someone who can help us understand what is going on.
The last moment of demonstrated *true* vision was the time he described what was on my computer monitor, “I see leaves.” Since then, he describes mostly darkness. Or all orange. Or all blue.
I’ll keep you posted as to the results of the MRI.
Thank you.
