Taylor’s accident was four years ago, today. Time seems to have taken on two chapters: “before the accident” and “after the accident”. Caring Bridge journal entries and guest book posts have chronicled the past four years with both hyper-detailed information, and long bouts of quiet about Taylor’s recovery process. And as his recovery roars on full-steam-ahead, it too, has times of hyper-detailed periods with new therapists, milestones, hilarious anecdotes and sound-bites, as well as long periods of quiet, and basic day-to-day.
Taylor will be 23 on Friday, and although things are much different for him now than any of us would have pictured for him five years ago, his days are still full of learning, recreation, laughter, so much smart-alicky humor, amazing moments, and rest. Much rest.
A Chapter 3 is beginning soon, which includes a transition from living at home with mom (thanks to help from his dad), to a home with caregivers and roommates, more structured therapies, independence, new friendships and new beginnings.
No details are set in stone yet, as there is much to do to prepare for this next step in his recovery, but it’s all coming together.
A slide presentation of Taylor’s past year will be posted here for his 23rd birthday (April1) along with information about his website, blog, and easy ways to donate to his Trust, where every little bit counts.
Check back this weekend for Taylor’s 23rd birthday slide show! And a few surprises!
Love and Blessings to All!
