Update 04/05/12

Thank you once again for all your prayers and support. We chose to be vague about specific injuries, but based on the abundance of questions and phones calls, we realize that we need to tell you what is really happening. If you do not want to know the specifics stop reading now.

We had mentioned before that he was transported by Life- Flight, when admitted these were his injuries: multiple skull fractures and multiple facial fractures including his jaw, serious brain injury with contusions. Broken collar bone, several broken ribs including his two top ribs. Both lungs where punctured and one of them was partailly collapsed and several fractured vertebrae.
He was unconscious.
There were no internal injuries.
Thanks to your love and prayers this is where he is now; both lungs are inflated and healthy with the exception of some fluid in the lining surrounding his lungs which is being drained. He is only requiring a low conscentration of oxygen. He was inti-bated at the scene, but now they have been able to pull that out and put in a Trach. He has had surgery to repair the damage to the bones in his face, there were no lacerations so he looked great after the reconstructive surgery. Because it went so well no other surgeries are necessary. His vital signs have been stable since he was admitted. His inner cranial pressure has also been stable; we were told that because of his skull fracture it made room for the swelling and the bones will heal as well as the vertebrae.

Today they are lessening his sedation a little at time, so that they can wake him up and talk to him. We are looking for response to voice and commands. His vitals have remained stable throughout this process. his pupils are now reacting to light, good sign!

The rest is waiting game and patience is required…love from his family
