Barrow’s Neuro ICU

By

My apologies for the late delivery of this journal entry.  I know many of you have been waiting to hear.  Unfortunately after generating journal entries three different times where my connection was lost before I could publish, I decided to just wait until I got back to my room.

Taylor is doing okay.  He had a drain placed in a ventricle of his brain today, in order to extract a sample for analysis, as well as simply reduce fluid pressure / ICP which was suspected of causing his lesser responsiveness which began a couple days ago.

The drain has produced nothing, as his ICP indicates it’s not such that it requires relief.

All vitals and blood work are stable and within normal limits.

He looks good, too, aside from the ominous line from that ventricle.

The rest is up to the two physicians choreographing his care right now – the infectious disease doctor and the neurosurgeon as to how long the drain stays, and the path forward.  The MRI Susie spoke of indicated there is either excess fluid or perhaps an abscess.  We shall see what the analysis of the CSF tells us pretty quickly.  If stuff is gonna grow, it’s not going to take long, I am told.

The rest of the info provided by the MRI showed improvement in all things, overall.
