Taylor has been moved to a “patient floor” in the neuroscience tower, where he will receive his ST, OT, PT and RT, until his endurance allows for 3 hours a day/7 days a week.
His body is getting stronger, and he took a few steps with a walker (and a little help from his team) which included forward steps, back steps and side to side. He then stepped to his chair (with help from his team), sat down and pulled his feet up onto the footrest, where he slept for three hours.
Speech therapy tried to wake him (at the end of the three-hour nap) for their session . After 15 minutes of trying, they were giving up for the day. They were trying to have him work with ice chips, to no avail. They were looking for him to simply acknowledge ice on his lips, but he never responded. As they were saying their goodbyes, he reached with his right hand and took the white styrofoam cup of ice chips from the therapist. He put the cup in his left hand, took the spoon sticking out of the ice chips, stirred them, and proceeded to fill the spoon and lift it.
Makes me wonder if he is just really bored with all of us.
When ST left, he was put back into bed, and he slept. And he is sleeping now.
