All three surgical teams were successful in meeting their respective objectives today.
- ENT performed an endoscopy to check things out, and all was well.
- The neuro-surgical team located and removed a hematoma outside the brain; a pretty straight-forward procedure for them, and all was well. The hematoma was the collection of fluid they saw on the scan; evidence of a previous small bleed that had resolved.
- The plastic surgeon was then able to perform his facet of the surgery by successfully repairing the cranial floor, and setting the stage for the next surgery which will repair the orbital floor. The repairs today allowed for the initial re-positioning of his left eye, and the final surgery in 6-8 weeks will allow for final placement in perfect alignment. YAY!
Taylor was moved to Neuro ICU about 7:00 p.m. and he looked great. The nurse had to wake him for an assessment of responsiveness, and he passed with flying colors. He is still not much of a fan of having to wiggle toes, lift arms, show two fingers…etc…and sometimes he is a bit creative with his responses. Always with a smile.
All his vitals were rock solid, and he was ready for a good night’s sleep.
