The day began with breakfast.  Taylor ate some Cream-of-Wheat and drank a full container of orange juice, as if swallowing was never an issue.  We were both amazed at how easily he was able to do so.

He wanted to shower, so I got the shower chair prepared and the water warm.  He did not want to sit, he wanted to stand, so I had to reconfigure the shower for a standing person.  He washed his hair, and enjoyed the hot shower while singing.  I am serious.  He was having a great morning, and he was very happy about it.

He got himself completely dressed without cues (reminders of what to do next, etc.).  Well, with the exception of that left sock.  That one took about 5 cues, and I’m thinking he was maybe taking a bit of a nap; about a 45 second nap.

Immediately after dressing, he wanted to work, and walk.  He did squats, calf work, push-ups and walked the big lap around the unit.  From there he went to the sofa, listened to an AMAZING gift CD of Spanish Classical Guitar (thank you Linda F.) and put together some of his pvc puzzle stuff.

Lunch was delivered, and he ate a half-bowl of cream of mushroom soup, whole milk, drank much of his protein “Resource” drink and some orange juice.

He was feeling very good.  He was talking, remembering his EMT material, and successfully completing short-term memory quizzes -and surprising himself over-and over.

I asked him if he thought maybe his shunt adjustment made the difference.  He shrugged.  Hard to say for sure, but today was a great day.
