Taylor is resting, and not a lot is being asked of him at this point. He is still battling fever, and more tests have been run to solve the mystery of its origin. There is a possibility that the fever is neurogenic (a result of the head injury) but they continue to test for everything just in case. All the surgical stuff is healing beautifully, and if his vitals indicate pain, he is administered morphine for comfort. He is still off sedation, and transdermal patches of pain killers pretty much handle his pain otherwise. They are removing IV lines for medications no longer necessary, so there are far fewer stands, pumps, lines and beeps around him now. That makes for a much different scene in his room!
T is not happy about the breathing tube, but he has a bit to go before he can breathe on his own without the trache backup. The machine dictates his breathing patterns (some of which are totally unnatural to the way we breathe) but it strengthens his lungs and increases the oxygen distribution to the rest of his body. So for now, it stays. His lungs are strong, and breath sounds are clear. Hard to believe for someone that two weeks ago had punctured lungs and bilateral chest tubes, and pneumonia! Seriously! So many amazing things happening!
Please keep praying for miracles. It’s working. And thank you all for such loving support. That has been an incredible and wonderful part of this journey.
