Taylor has been complaining about his PEG line for two weeks – where the feeding tube goes into his belly was painful. He was also having some trouble keeping his food down, as his belly would not tolerate much volume at all. Last night he took matters into his own hands and pulled his PEG completely out.
He cannot be transported anywhere while the PEG is out, because there is no means to give him nutrition, fluids or meds, and the doctor visit would have taken around four hours including transport across town and back. It has been rescheduled for next Tuesday.
He was having quie a bit of pain in his jaw this morning, so he was trying to hold ice packs on his face to avoid the only pain-killer option while his PEG is out: morphine. When it was explained to him by Dr. Kwaznicka why his appointment was cancelled, he nodded and gave a double thumbs-up.
Rehab schedule per normal today. He’s already had an hour of PT.
The PEG should be reinserted through Intervention Radiology some time today.
