Out and About

By

Taylor has been enjoying his new-found freedom that comes with no longer needing a wheelchair, or many of the other things that have had him anchored for the past seven months.

There is never a shortage of things to do or people to see, and he is busily taking advantage of all the action.  He goes for walks through the neighborhood, he’s back in the kitchen doing some cooking, he insisted on walking through every house the realtor showed and is still asking for extra work-outs!

PT and OT have officially signed off for Home Health.  No more house calls.  PT stated Taylor is actually stronger (can lift more) than he can!  So things have shifted, in that we are pursuing OT and PT specifically for the visually impaired for the next phase of therapies.

ST will use all remaining Home Health visits with strong focus on eating and drinking.  Speaking has gotten much better, and cognitive exercises bore him.  To sleep.

A craniofacial-trauma speech pathologist at Barrow Neuro will perform an endoscopic procedure on Thursday, to investigate the “architecture” of his mouth/throat and evaluate muscular movement for swallow.  They may also do another barium swallow-test.

Taylor is enjoying his treats of smoothe stuff, but is excited about the prospect of having food he must chew.  Only then can the G-tube be removed.

Been working through AZ Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and he will begin a semester-long class in the spring (January) for training on assistive technologies, i.e…JAWS and other text to speech programs.  He has bouts of vision everyday, but that will be a long road; best that he has tools in his toolbox….

The bracelets are not here yet…they tell me with the school start, they were buried with orders.  Next week…

I already have the mailing envelopes and postage for the first twenty shipments.  So for those of you that have placed orders, all is ready for shipping ASAP.

We are moving next Friday, so if you have not yet sent in your orders to the 5122 N. 31st Way address, hold off.  The Lease Agreement should be signed (for one year) on the new place tomorrow, once that is a for-sure-done-deal I’ll just have you send all to the new address.

Please post your messages and cheers for T!
