By Lisa Ansay — Taylor is recovering from his surgeries VERY well. He has recovered more quickly this time than any other surgeries – ever! He is awake and alert, speaking very well, and in great spirits.
His leg is sore where they harvested tissue grafts: one is a fat graft; the other a fascia strip from his thigh. Those areas bother him more than any of the rest, and as usual, he refuses pain meds.
Typical Taylor – he is messing with the nurses a little – with silly answers to the questions they must ask him every two hours. Thankfully, most all of the nurses know him, so now they just razz him right back rather than assuming he has had some sort of “mental status change.” He thinks that’s pretty funny.
Word got around at the hospital that he was back in ICU, so he has a steady stream of medical staff saying hello and wishing him well.
Monday, surgeons will re-internalize the ventriculoperitoneal shunt (vp shunt), Neurosurgery Pt. 3 of 3.
Taylor should be sleeping in his own bed by the end of next week.
Taylor turns 20 on Monday!
