MRI Results

By

The MRI does show fluid collection in two areas that were not present in the previous (2/2/14) MRI.  These areas are the mastoid (by the right ear) and the frontal sinus (behind the forehead).

Cultures were taken from the sinus (lower only, through the nostril) with results expected Monday.

The fluid area in the frontal sinus is not accessible for drainage or culture, as the area behind the bridge of his nose was completely and permanently blocked to repair CSF leaks from the frontal sinus. If it is determined the frontal sinus must be accessed, it will likely be a simple needle through existing fractures/plates in the upper forehead, since surgery is not an option.

Watching fever/vitals through the weekend and laying low.  No 10k runs or bench-pressing Volkswagens.

Neurosurgery, ENT, Infectious Disease and Neurology are discussing path-forward.

Taylor is in great spirits, with his Cross in his pocket.  But he is sleepy, and very willing to just chill for the weekend.  If his fever climbs or he starts feeling worse, we are to head for ER and they will admit him.
