Today Taylor had a surgery to relieve fluids in his head. It is called a V.P. Shunt that is a permanent tube that runs from the brain through his soft tissue and into his stomach. This will control the amount of CSF that surrounds his brain as his body could not control the amount on its own. He was sedated for the surgery and then given pain meds after so he has had a sleepy and well deserved recovery day. Lisa and I toured the facility at the Barrow Traumatic Brain Injury Center today, and we have decided that when he is ready, and ALL of his medical concerns are addressed, this will be the best place for him. The sodium level issue still needs to be addressed, more plastic surgery, ophthalmologist visit, etc. Looking forward to tomorrow to see him wake up, wiggle those toes give us a thumbs up and proceed with his recovery. We have fish to catch UJ.
