Healing in ICU

By

Taylor has been in Barrow’s Neuro ICU since surgery on Friday, and he will remain for another day or two for observation.  His vitals are good.  He has intermittent fevers – but it is now the general concesus that they are neurogenic. Cultures collected have yet to grow anything.  Sodium climbed a bit out of range, but it’s trending in the right direction now.

The plastic surgeon taking care of Taylor’s left eye socket, etc., will be stopping by for a consult tomorrow.  I’m not sure how much he’ll be able to evaluate tomorrow as Taylor’s eyes are now completely swollen shut, and the rest of his face, forehead, etc., is pretty swollen too.

Physical Therapy for St. Joe’s stopped by to see if T wanted to stretch his legs, arms, sit up in bed for a bit, etc., – they knew he was post surgery, so they were not expecting much.

Taylor wanted to go for a walk, so he pulled on his socks, shoes, tied them and was ready to go.  A little wobbly at first, he did a lap around ICU, assistive lines in tow, very sutured and swollen.

He rests well when he rests!

Audio books have been a pastime of choice, and thanks to a referral from a friend (thanks Karen) he is enjoying The Art of Racing in the Rain.  We toggle between that one and Robert Heinlein.

If you have any suggestions for good books, let us know.  :0)
