Taylor had an alert, oriented, and even enthusiastic day. It was awesome to have him chiming in – and saying please and thank you to the medical staff. He hasn’t spoken in a while, and today that started turning around.
His hair was really bugging him, as it had not been truly washed until prior to the last surgery. The nurses use these warm, foam-filled shower caps they place on the head and smoosh it all around. No rinse. Taylor is not a fan. So Taylor’s nurse and I fully washed his hair with real shampoo, real rinsing, and real big smiles from the T-Man. He was a happy man.
Taylor was communicating well today, with spoken words. As his Physician’s Assistant, Debbie says, “this is how he rolls.” He sleeps for about a week after one of these surgeries, and then he is ready to go.
He was nappy this afternoon, but he’s up again now, so I had better get over there before he disassembles the remote control. And I’m not kidding…
Debbie, the PA says they will start to talk of discharge from the hospital sometime next week, maybe. No one is in a hurry right now.
