It was decided that Taylor was not “sick enough” for inpatient rehab, so insurance denied his stay – for now. Some of his Physician Teams also said we should hang on the the 60 days allowed each calendar year for inpatient rehab, for after his major reconstruction surgery. Taylor agreed.
So he is home, living large in 80 degree sunshine in beautiful Arizona, taking long, hot showers (with actual water pressure) and eating spaghettios and whatever else he wants.
His strength is regaining quickly, and it’s fun to see how much better he feels since they changed his shunt last week. Prior to that, he was having a tough time of things as his brain became more and more unhappy with the faulty shunt. Now, things are “feeling pretty good” he says, and he’s back to being the smart aleck we all know and love.
Now word yet on the reconstruction. The 3D model of his whole noggin was still in Germany last time we checked.
